Euro Pallets
Officially known as Europool pallets, these reusable transport pallets are part of the Europool exchange system. The standardised Euro pallet was introduced in 1961 to reduce empty space during transport and thereby lower costs.
A Euro pallet complies with the specifications of the European Pallet Association (EPAL) when it bears the official markings on the corner blocks along its long sides. The standardised dimensions of Euro pallets have become the reference not only for the internal measurements of most transport vehicles but also for many industrial companies, which have adapted their packaging and outer packaging to fit Euro pallet sizes.
A Euro pallet is a four-way pallet, meaning it can be lifted and handled from all four sides by forklifts or pallet jacks.
The exchangeability of EPAL Euro pallets is subject to strict conditions regarding their condition. Minor damage or defects must be repaired by an authorised specialist company in compliance with all criteria, after which the pallets are re-certified and appropriately marked.
